Gluten Free Croutons Recipe Ingredients
Here’s what goes into these gluten free croutons and why it works:
- Gluten free baguette: The base—choose a crusty loaf that toasts up well and holds its shape. The most readily available gluten free baguette is by Schar but we love the Arise Bakery baguettes if you live in Northern California and can find them!
- Extra-virgin olive oil: Adds richness and helps the croutons crisp evenly.
- Garlic cloves: Infuses the oil with that savory, aromatic flavor we love. (Or use our roasted garlic oil here.)
- Kosher salt: Enhances the flavor and adds that final touch of seasoning.
How to Make This Recipe
Start by heating the oven then cutting your gluten free baguette into bite-sized cubes and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Then heat olive oil with smashed garlic cloves until fragrant—this step infuses the oil with rich garlic flavor. (Or use our roasted garlic oil here.)
Carefully pour the oil over the bread cubes, season with a pinch of salt, and toss to coat. Bake, stirring regularly, until they are crisp and golden.

What to Serve With This
We made these gluten free croutons for this Avocado Arugula Salad, but they can go well beyond that! These gluten free croutons are perfect on a classic green salad, sprinkled over creamy soups like tomato or butternut squash, or tossed into a chopped veggie salad for added texture.
They’re also delicious as a snack on their own (trust us—you’ll be sneaking bites straight from the jar). Keep a batch on hand to elevate all your gluten free recipes with a satisfying crunch.

Gluten Free Croutons Recipe
Ingredients
For The Garlic Croutons:
- 1 medium French (aka sweet) baguette or whole wheat ciabatta
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 smashed garlic cloves
- kosher salt
Instructions
For The Garlic Croutons:
- Heat an oven to 375°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Cut the baguette into bite-sized squares (rougly 1/2-inch cubes) and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Heat the olive oil and garlic in a large frying pan over medium heat. When the garlic sizzles and releases its fragrance, remove it from the oil. Carefully pour the oil over the croutons, season with a generous pinch of salt, and toss until coated.
- Bake the croutons for 5 minutes then remove from oven, stir, and return to oven. Bake in 5 minute increments until they are golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes total, depending on the size. Remove from oven and cool before using (if you leave them on the baking sheet, they will continue to get crisper and darker in color, FYI.) (The croutons can be made up to 4 days in advance. Store at room temperature in an airtight container unt
