Where To Eat Now In Mallorca, Spain

When our contributor, Liza De Guia, said she wanted to visit Mallorca, Spain we were curious. We’ve long had Mallorca on our list but still hadn’t made it.

Liza’s friends, Joanna Cybulski and Ross Hutchison run a private chef business in Mallorca that caters to local fare, and it’s clear they aren’t coming back anytime soon. are recent transplants to Spain from New York and it’s clear they aren’t coming back anytime soon.

Liza’s on a mission to visit them and, when she finally sets foot in the Balearic Islands, she’s got this to-do list to take care of:

Breakfast at La Molienda Bakery

This coffee shop slash bakery collaborates with local coffee roasters and their espresso is among the best in Mallorca.

Order a flat white or one of their specialty coffees infused with orange peel, along with their breakfast dish of eggs on buttery, handmade croissants.

Small Plates at Can Punta Restaurant

Set in the Portixol neighborhood, Can Punta is always packed on a beautiful day. It’s the perfect restaurant to gather with friends and share small plates of amazing Greek food with a Spanish twist.

The chef riffs off his family’s recipes with dishes like crispy calamari and a very popular Spanikopita. The food is great but it’s just as perfect a spot for relaxing and people-watching.

Luxury Lunch at Andreu Genestra Restaurant

Chef Genestra’s tasting menu is said to be one of the best on the Island and the “agrotourism” setting is stunning too. The 5-course lunch is spectacular, but the Soller Prawns are particularly noteworthy: think an olive oil-poached prawn from the waters off Mallorca served on a coconut Calasparra rice.

Go for lunch on the weekend, use their pool facilities, and rent a day bed so you can put your feet up and relax after lunch.

Tasting Menu at Ca Na Toneta Restaurant

For traditional Mallorcan food, Ca Na Toneta is an absolute must. Owned by two sisters who converted their family home into a restaurant, they are as passionate about the food they create as the memories they provide.

Every dish in their 5-course tasting menu is a modern take on traditionally Mallorcan flavors but their take on the Coca is what they’re known for.

Seafood at Cala Deia

Cala Deia is a pebbled cove flanked by two seafood restaurants, both of which are equally as good and equally as packed during the high season. Drive here for lunch and enjoy watching the yachts bob up and down on the sparkling sea.

Picnic at Es Trenc Playa

Es Trenc Playa is a Caribbean-like, white sandy beach that everyone sees when flying into the island. Located on the South Coast of the island, it is the perfect place to picnic with friends.

Sangria at Cala Llombards Beach

Cala Llombards is one of the many small cove beaches on the island and has something for everyone from lounging in under an umbrella to cliff diving for the adventurous. But they also have a gem of a snack bar; it serves traditional food and cocktails and the White Wine Sangria is a must.

Happy Hour at Deia

Deia is quintessential Mallorca. Surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, this village is small in size but makes up for it with stunning steep streets, beautiful homes, and amazing views. Wander the maze of streets then end your day with a glass of local Mallorcan wine at the luxurious La Residencia hotel.

Wine Tasting in Banyalbufar

Banyalbufar is a quiet, less tourist area of Mallorca. Located on the Northwest coast of the island, drive along the rugged landscape with windy roads and spectacular views. And it’s also a wine country where Malvasia grapes are grown and you can find several different wineries like Bodega Son Vives.
