Packing well is an art and your beauty bag should be just as well edited as your travel wardrobe. There's no shame in having an at-home beauty closet that rivals your local Sephora, but there is no need to take it all along with on your summer adventures. So here's a list of everything (or 8 things) beauty for any and all summer getaways.

If you remember only one thing, wear sunscreen!
This is not a suggestion. This is a mandate. Wear sunscreen. It’s the best beauty advice you’ll ever get and perhaps the single most important step in any beauty routine worth following. Josie Maran’s Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 with Sunboost ATB™ is one of the best there is. It’s slightly tinted and wears well under makeup or can even replace a tinted moisturizer if you’re going for a no make-up look. It’s TSA friendly and it won’t burn your eyes.
Whether you’re out for a long day wine tasting, running around Jazz Fest, or showing off your newest Mikoh bikini at the best pool party of the summer, you’ll need to re-apply sunscreen over your makeup. We can all thank Supergoop for handling that like champs with their Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50. It’s lightweight and can be reapplied several times throughout the day without burning your eyes or leaving a white-cast. Oh, and men can wear it too.
Cover-up, naturally.
Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint is a gorgeous, slightly-dewey (in the best way), tinted moisturizer with buildable coverage and SPF 20. It covers imperfections and protects against the sun’s harmful rays. It’s also hypoallergenic and full of good-for-your-skin ingredients like ginseng and antioxidants to keep your complexion glowing long after the makeup comes off.
Revisit the stain. She’s better than you remember.
Gone are the days of the original stains that finish streaky and leave your lips dry and cracked. These days stains are by far the best beauty tool for an effortlessly chic look. Promise! Plus they now wear well, feel and look great. And we swear by Elizabeth Mott’s Tints & Sass lip and cheek stain. It goes on very lightly if you want that flushed, blushing beauty look or you can add a few layers on the lips for a gorgeous red pout that lasts all day or night.
Water-and weather-proof your lashes.
Let's be real: lash extensions have changed the world. So get yourself some. But, for those who aren’t ready to commit to the maintenance but still want killer lashes, there is a solution. Too Faced Cosmetics has, arguably, created the greatest mascara of all time, Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. Actually, it’s not arguable. Best. Mascara. Ever.
Pack one palette. It’s all you need.
A woman who packs well is a woman who leaves herself room to shop! Your beauty bag should fit inside your hand luggage—it should not be your hand luggage. The best way to edit your collection for travel is to create your own palette of must-have color items and travel with only that palette. It should include a few shadows, a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter unless one of your shadows can double as a highlighter. We suggest visiting your nearest NARS boutique and asking a professional to help you create a custom palette. If you’re going to build your own online, opt for the following fool-proof products: blush in Orgasm; bronzer in Laguna, and shadows in Abyssinia, Blondie, Bali, 413 BLKR, Galapagos, and Goldfinger.
Tame Your Tresses.
Master the art of second (and third and maybe fourth) day hair. It looks better than freshly washed hair and allows you to get ready quickly so you don’t miss the sunset or sundowners. Priorities, right? There are plenty of great dry shampoos out there, but few are as amazing as Dry Bar’s Triple Sec. Like any good dry shampoo it refreshes your tresses by absorbing oils on the scalp. Unlike most dry shampoos, it doesn’t leave a chalky finish, it also adds manageable texture, fantastic volume, and it smells great. Whether you’re going for a trendy mermaid look or a classic chignon (which is totally cool again), Triple Sec will be your secret weapon.
Save your skin.
Any sun-worshiping Hawaiian will tell you, Hawaiian Kukui Nut Oil is the single best beauty multi-tasker on earth. Thanks to the internet, we can re-up on this magical potion between our trips to The Aloha State. It will heal your sunburn, stand-in for your body and facial moisturizers, work as a makeup remover, and add life to split ends and dry mane. Wear an unscented oil under your favorite fragrance or choose a scented oil to replace your perfume.
Perfect your polish game.
If you’re the type of gal who doesn’t leave the house without perfectly polished nails, we feel you. We are you. We also know you’re constantly hunting for a long-wear polish that actually is long wear and won’t ruin your nails like gels. We have the solution: Ciate Gelology polish and top coat go on smoothly and have the easiest-to-use brush we’ve ever come across. Best of all, it truly lasts 5 days without a chip.
