Living in Manhattan for almost a decade, I was used to having everything at my fingertips. Well, everything except nature. But after relocating to Denver, getting outdoors is my norm, with one my favorite ways being the road trip up to Boulder.

And, as the weather thaws, Boulder is a pretty perfect day trip because it has something for everyone — hiking or biking; shopping; and lots of great dining. I tend to do all three: head on a hike, stock up on produce at the Farmers Market, and finish the afternoon with a bite (or two). Here's how to day trip to Boulder:
