Cocktail folklore has it that this drink, the Negroni Sbagliato, is a mistake or messed up (aka sbagliato) take on the classic cocktail the Negroni. Whereas the Negroni is a mix of gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari cocktail, it's said that a bartender at Milan's Bar Bass created the Negroni Sbagliato when he used brut sparkling wine instead of gin. However, it went down, it's forever written into the cocktail history book, and, whenever we're in Italy, we turn to it (or a Spritz) for aperitivo (happy hour).
Place ice in a rocks glass and add all the liquor and stir. Top with an orange twist and serve.
